The Buildings
Tudhoe Grange School is situated on two sites within
walking distance of each other. For the first three
years of their time with us, students are taught the
majority of their lessons in our Durham Road premises.
Years 10 and 11 then move into the St Charles Road premises.
Thus we get to know our students as individuals and
they each have the opportunity to develop in a small
social environment and to build up relationships between
themselves and with teaching staff.
Our Durham Road Premises are both traditional and substantial
and fully equipped to teach all the National Curriculum
subjects. Facilities include refurbished specialist
Information Technology rooms where pupils can improve
the skills learnt at Junior School on compatible computers.
There are Science laboratories, a Music Suite with adjoining
practise and recording rooms, Technology rooms, an excellent
stage, a gymnasium, a Resource Centre and recently refurbished
English and humanities rooms. The buildings are set
in extensive playing fields.
Our St Charles Road Building is only half a mile away
on a most pleasant site. Students have access to laptops,
three air conditioned computer rooms, a modern Resource
Centre, a very modern science block, and extensive Technology
suite with the latest equipment for computer-aided design.
Classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards
and data projectors. There is also a conference room
and interview room. All help to create the right environment
for all our students to achieve their best.
A Secure Environment
We want all of our students to feel happy and secure
while they are with us. We take any suggestion of bullying
very seriously and work together to ensure that there
are no victims in Tudhoe Grange. There is a F.A.B. group
of trained peer mentors on both sites (Fight Against
Bullying) and Tudhoe Grange has acquired the Anti-Bullying
Award for the second year running as a result of the
work being done to combat bullying.
We have:
a security fence
a security manager
close links with Spennymoor Police
electronic security locks for entrances/exits
an alarm system
Transport
The L.E.A. arrange for the school buses. Students
are provided with a bus pass that must be shown to
the driver. Unsatisfactory conduct on the buses may
result in the right to free travel being withdrawn.
Complaints Procedure
All complaints must be directed, in the
first instance, to the Head Teacher. If you are not
satisfied with the way a complaint is dealt with by
the Head Teacher, you should write to the Chair of
the Governing Body, or to the Director of Education,
County Hall, Durham, DH1 5UY.
